Sam Fender has announced three record-breaking stadium shows in summer 2025 in association with the release of his much-anticipated album, People Watching. This is set to be the stuff of memories for an already impressive career.
The first show will be at London Stadium on Friday, June 6, marking his largest headlining gig to date and his debut stadium performance outside of Newcastle. After that, he will return to his roots for two hometown performances at Newcastle’s iconic St. James’ Park, which will take place on Thursday, June 12, and Saturday, June 14.
For Fender, the hometown dates will serve as history in the making because he will be breaking The Rolling Stones record of three shows at St James’ Park. Already, two nights in 2023 sold out the venue; now he adds on two more to cement his mark in North Shields and in Newcastle music scenes.
The London Stadium show, with a capacity of 75,000, will have support from CMAT while The War on Drugs has been added to the bill for June 6 and June 14.
Graham Gilmore, London Stadium CEO, is thrilled:
We are delighted to be welcoming Sam Fender to London Stadium for the first stadium show of his career this summer 2025; he is surely one of the most exciting live artists performing today, a kind of rising star who has been selling out shows all over the UK. We are absolutely delighted that it is happening in London Stadium and promises to be one more unforgettable night at our venue.
For those who want to get their hands on tickets, there is also a pre-sale available on top of this page, which starts 9:30 a.m. Friday, November 29, for general ticket sales.
A Triumphant Return for Sam Fender
The news comes with the electrifying unveiling of People Watching, Fender’s third album, set for release on February 21, 2024. It has already got fans and critics buzzing with its anthemic title song.
In the run-up to the album’s release, Fender will undertake the first leg of The People Watching Tour across the UK and Ireland, with all arena dates sold out. He will continue with the tour across Europe in March 2025. Meanwhile, Fender has also lined up to play at Belgium’s Rock Werchter festival in July.
Sam Fender first made waves with his 2019 debut album, Hypersonic Missiles, with its euphoric, guitar-driven anthems. With his second album, Seventeen Going Under (2021), he catapulted into the international arena. The album was a raw yet sensitive exploration of Fender’s upbringing in the North East of England, where themes of family, self-discovery, and fractured friendships were intertwined with crashing choruses.
Success for Seventeen Going Under brought him several BRIT Awards, NME honors, an Ivor Novello award, and a Mercury Prize nomination. He has come a long way since playing intimate gigs to being part of global tours, supporting acts such as Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and even headlining major festivals.
Now one of Britain’s foremost songwriters, Fender’s next album, People Watching, promises to really cement his reputation. A vibrant collection of stories and observations on the lives of extraordinary ordinary people, it brings a fresh perspective to the often introspective subject matter of his work so far.
With his relentless drive, authentic storytelling, and unmatched ability to connect with audiences, Sam Fender’s 2025 stadium shows are set to be defining moments in a career that shows no signs of slowing down.
