MTV European Music Awards light up Manchester tonight, as Co-op Live hosts one of Europe’s biggest music events outside Eurovision. This year, EMAs brings the best of the music industry together to a night of unforgettable performances and celebrity appearances.
Pop star Rita Ora will be the presenter at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards for the third consecutive time, and she will introduce names like Raye, Pet Shop Boys, Le Sserafim, Shawn Mendes, Benson Boone, and others. The event – beginning at 9 p.m. on MTV UK and at 10 p.m. on Channel 5 – will lead off with a red-carpet prelude, in which audiences will get their first peeks at celebrities stretching from fashion-forward outfits from toes to sternum.
Pop icon Taylor Swift is leading the nominations with seven nods in her name. Other bigger names in contention include Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, and Sabrina Carpenter, promising a night that will be pulsating with energetic performances. Added to this is a special tribute set to the former One Direction star Liam Payne in recognition of his influence on the music world.
Rita Ora has just expressed her excitement to host the event in Manchester, declaring, “I’m really happy it’s in Manchester; I’m genuinely excited. We’re just trying to bring the history and energy of Manchester into the arena.” Manchester has a storied music history-it would be an ideal fit for the EMAs this year, promising electrification and truly memorable performances.
We’ll have our team reporting live from on site, capturing every red-carpet moment and drawing directly from the arena for announcement of each prize winner.
