Thrown out from the industrial landscape of snowy Western Massachusetts in 2000, Killswitch Engage has revolutionized the sound of heavy music. They merged elements of European-inspired guitar prowess, the raw energy of East Coast hardcore, and reflective, often uplifting lyrics into one sonic bang. And live performance added a touch of unpredictability and humor to set them apart, defining a new era in metal.

A breakthrough was reached in 2002, when the band put out Alive or Just Breathing, named a milestone of metal history. Massacred, it was included in Decibel’s “The Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the Decade,” and many classic publications said Metal Hammer and Revolver liked it. Their early success paved the way for a prolific career, inspiring countless other acts into the metal genre.

Killswitch Engage has received prestigious accolades throughout their career, including three GRAMMY nominations for “Best Metal Performance,” in 2005, 2014, and 2019. The albums they produced garnered high-performance status, such as the gold certification received by The End of Heartache (2004) and the platinum status of As Daylight Dies (2006).

The band’s commercial success has been equally impressive. Three of their albums—Killswitch Engage (2009), Disarm the Descent (2013), and Incarnate (2016)—secured Top 10 positions on the Billboard Top 200, with Incarnate peaking at an impressive #6. In addition, both Disarm the Descent and Atonement (2019) climbed to #1 on the Top Rock Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums charts. With nearly 3 billion streams to date, the band’s enduring popularity highlights their impact and reach.

They have witnessed live impact as well, for Killswitch Engage has tirelessly toured selling out gigs throughout the globe and sharing headlining slots with some of the biggest names in music metal acts such as Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Slayer, My Chemical Romance, Mastodon, and Parkway Drive. Their transmusical style capabilities spoke well of their versatility and universal appeal.

With This Consequence, Killswitch Engage adds yet another chapter into their storied career. As the fan base eagerly awaits its release, it sets the stage for what promises to be just as life-changing as it is true to the band’s overall purpose.
