Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona has confirmed her split from fiancé Ryan Mahoney claiming a “breach of trust”. Kerry and Ryan were together for six years, and though the former Atomic Kitten singer had hinted to her fans about her single status, the singer spilled it out openly in her column of OK! Magazine.
Discussing the struggles they were undergoing, Kerry said, “Last week, I said how me and Ryan were having such a bad time. And now he’s moved out of the house.” Reflecting on their time together, as well as this past week being absolute turmoil, she added, “It’s really been a tough week—I never in a million years thought this would happen. To give you too much detail, there has been a breach of trust between us.”
Despicably, she told him she still loved him and wanted another chance, even at the age of 44, despite their already having split up. “I don’t know if we’ll be able to work it out or not, but I do still love him so much,” she admitted, acknowledging the overwhelming stress that had recently built up in her life. “Everything has just been piling on lately, and it is so hard to deal with. I am really struggling. But I know that I can get through no matter what happens; I’ve been through break-ups before and come out the other side, so we just need to see what happens. “
Kerry and Ryan’s relationship has been a very public one, which started with an impromptu engagement when the couple were on holiday in Spain four years ago. All during the relationship, Kerry says she made plain to Ryan that she wanted to marry him but also was clear about her feeling that it was “unsupported” by her younger lover. Once, they even set a date to get married in Las Vegas, but then had to call off the wedding when Kerry’s daughters, Molly and Lilly-Sue, demanded to attend their mother’s wedding.
Kerry laughed about her daughters’ overreaction, joking that Molly and Lilly said, “Don’t you dare do that without us.” To which she said, “I told them they’d already been to too many of my weddings!” Of course, she would have liked to have married Ryan, but her children’s reaction put a hold on plans to marry him.
Making her emotional pain much heavier, Kerry was also suffering from severe health issues within her family. She was visiting her mom, Sue, daily who had been in the hospital for weeks with blood clots in both legs and several other health issues. Being a mother and a caregiver must have put more pressure on Kerry’s already difficult times with Ryan just before.
Kerry’s family life has played a dominant role in her life. She had five children from previous marriages that she did her best to raise while juggling her career and personal life. Two of the daughters share the same father, who is Brian McFadden. The first oldest daughter is Molly at 22 and Lilly-Sue at 20. Her youngest two are from her union to Mark Croft, Heidi (16) and Max (15), while the youngest, nine-year-old Dylan Jorge, is by her late husband George Kay.
Even though the problems in Kerry’s personal life abound, she still takes an optimistic approach toward this latest break-up. She had had the same kinds of problems several times before and had come out stronger with every one of them, and this time proved no exception. The future is uncertain for her and Ryan, but Kerry’s more recent focus is upon her kids and family and even upon herself.
As she is now supported by her fans in this trying moment, Kerry’s story speaks eloquently for her strength and for the dedication she so unconditionally has to the people closest to her heart.
