The Glastonbury Festival has announced a big change in the ticket buying system for the 2025 event. The organizers will now introduce a virtual queue to manage the highly demanded tickets. This new development was shared on Tuesday, November 5, ahead of the ticket sales on November 14 and 17.
According to the Glastonbury website post, “The booking process itself for 2025 will be the same as in previous years, however, the way in which you join the booking process is changing.” Festival-goers won’t be refreshing the holding page until the booking system opens to get in this year; instead, festival-goers need to be at glastonbury.seetickets.com before the booking sale opens at either 6 p.m. or 9 a.m. according to the date of sale will start, and once the sales are underway, all the people already there on the site are given a random spot in the queue, which would better serve the huge traffic with a more systematic way.
If a customer initiates the log-in process from the sale, they go to the back of the queue automatically. This requires preparing for and being ready several minutes before the beginning of a sale. Once the line has started to form, a progress bar will display how far the user has to the booking page.
People are also cautioned against rechecking through refreshing the page or when making use of several devices or tabs of the browser. With all this, there might be a loss of their place in the queue in which ticketing may go awry. Once one has reached the front of the queue, the buyers need to fill in the lead booker’s registration number and postcode and then details for up to five others whom they wish to purchase tickets for. This is so since each registration ties up to a person and, once a ticket has been booked, it cannot be reassigned to someone else.
Once the ticket buyer has entered all the registration details, he or she will have 10 minutes to complete this step, as the session will time out. However, at this stage, tickets are not officially allocated. The final confirmation is very much an exercise in detail as the participant will be asked to confirm the names that he or she has entered. These details are locked and cannot be amended once submitted.
Only when all of these details are confirmed, the fans get redirected to the payment page. There they have to enter their billing address and insert the necessary details to make payment. Next in line, the user will have to agree with the terms and conditions so as to successfully checkout. This is important because navigating or closing the window of the page would mean cancellation of tickets as well as failure of order. In short, money allocation happens only if payment has been made.
This is in an effort to make the ticketing process much easier and less stressful for people because of the uncertainty of the previous system. Once again, the popularity of the festival will mean that tickets will be very competitive and fans will need to be prepared and organized in order to get their spot at Worthy Farm.
