Ben Affleck spoke out on the public’s obsession with his relationship with Jennifer Lopez, putting an end to all those speculations of feud rumors since their recent divorce news.
After Lopez made a comment on their break-up, numerous sources started speculating whether the split was amicable or not. But with Affleck’s public approval of his ex-wife’s work in her new movie, Unstoppable, it’s evident that no animosity remains.
Lopez plays the role of Anthony Robles’s mother, Judy. The movie is a story about a wrestler with one leg, born Anthony Robles, portrayed by Jharrel Jerome, who defies impossible odds to become a champion. When asked about Lopez’s performance, Affleck responded briefly yet warmly to Entertainment Tonight, saying, “Jennifer is spectacular.” His simple yet strong endorsement spoke not only to her talent but also quietly calmed any rumors of bad blood between them.
Affleck and Lopez announced their split earlier this year after two years of marriage, which followed a wave of rumors surrounding their relationship status. For decades, the world has scrutinized their relationship, given the widely publicized romance they shared back in 2004. They first got engaged after appearing together in the 2003 film Gigli, which had received a critical thrashing at the time but marked them on the public map. The two broke up shortly after the first engagement but reconciled years later and married before finally breaking up.
The filing, according to TMZ sources, occurred on their second anniversary of marriage. Due to this reason, it is calculated that the income received during these two years would be discussed in the financial part of the divorce.
Recently, Lopez appeared to mark her exit from the relationship by removing a “commitment” tattoo she shared with Affleck on Valentine’s Day 2023. For most people, the ink represents a permanent tie, but for the singer, removal is in the direction of self-esteem.
In an interview with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine, Lopez reveals navigating single life. Contemplating on a full decade of experiences and hard times, she recounts to the raw emotions that surface. “Everything that I’ve done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f***ing do when it’s just me flying on my own… what if I’m just free?” she said.
She admits that the process of moving on has been difficult. “It feels lonely, unfamiliar, scary. It feels sad.”. It is desperate, Lopez continued. Even the pain of it all, she said, gave her a sense of power and endurance in the fact that she could be happy without these people. “When you sit in those feelings and go, ‘These things are not going to kill me,’ it’s like actually, I am capable of joy and happiness all by myself.” The words are telling of a journey to get self-worth outside of relations, especially one as sensationalized as hers with Affleck.
The words of praise for Lopez by Affleck for her performance in Unstoppable will give an indication that there would be respect for both even as they separated. When his actions are positive support, the act shows that going away was not going to bring down this regard about each other’s professional and personal life by both of them.
