The legendary guitarist of the iconic British rock band, The Who, Pete Townshend has recently announced the return of the band through a tour in 2025. The two aged icons of the band will come together and hit the roads again as they are pretty much enthusiastic about it. The 80-year-old lead singer Roger Daltrey and Townshend will perform again on stages worldwide in 2025.
“We love each other, said Townshend, who was asked if his advancing age would stop The Who from touring again, “We’re both getting a bit creaky, but we will definitely do something next year.”
Although Townshend would indeed be very excited to release the new album, Daltrey doesn’t seem to be too pleased about it. However, Townshend still clings on to hope and prays to convince his friend/bandmate.
“The album side of it. Roger’s not keen. But I would love to do another album and I may try to bully him on that,” Townshend revealed. “The last big tours that we’ve done have been with a full orchestra, which was glorious, but we’re now eager to make a noise and make a mess and make mistakes.”
This was success mixed with tragic loss during the history of The Who. Formed back in 1964, the band had a plan to retire after their 50th-anniversary tour in 2014. It had toured constantly over the years. However, their passion for music has kept them performing, much to the delight of their ardent fan-base.
The original composition of the band was with Townshend, Daltrey, bass player John Entwistle, and Keith Moon as the drummer. It was a shock for all to see how tragically Moon died in 1978, then John Entwistle in 2002. Townshend and Daltrey kept The Who alive in every show with a number of guest musicians.
In an eagerly anticipated 2025 tour, one can look forward to high-energy performances with old-time hits and maybe a bit of new material. It is undoubtedly true that the Who left an unforgettable mark as one of the most influential rock bands ever. Their new tour is sure to be an event for the ages that would thrill not only their older fans but also this generation of music lovers.
