Reports indicate that Raye, the British singer-songwriter who won a record of six Brit Awards earlier in the year, has been dealt a blow as her stolen car contained notebooks full of songs for an upcoming second album.
This was Raye’s birthday, to be precise her 27th birthday, just putting salt on the wound. On Instagram, Raye vented over what had happened to her in one of the posts expressing her frustration and uncertainty towards the future of her album. The birthday cake photo features a post where she exclaimed, “happy birthday ur car got stolen,” all in ironic icing.
Her debut album, My 21st Century Blues, was critical and commercial success, with a breakout hit in “Escapism.” She continued with subsequent collaborations on tracks with Joel Corry, David Guetta, and Regard.
However, the journey to fame did not come easy to her. Five years after signing to a record label, in 2021, Raye had yet to put out her debut album. The frustration with the slow progress in her career made her want to be let go of her contract. Fortunately for her, she owned all her songs, and then she got her big chance to be in the spotlight as a solo artist.
The loss of Raye’s songwriting notebooks through theft is a severe blow since they represent the waste of creative work and potential future hits. Nevertheless, one must not forget that Raye is a resilient artist who has conquered adverse situations before, and now her fans are impatiently waiting for the release of her second album.
