Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have marked a major milestone in their relationship as they announced the former has accepted his long-time boyfriend’s proposal five years into their relationship. Nina Dobrev took to her Instagram to share the great news with her fans using the caption, “RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé,” alongside photos showing the romantic proposal.
In the pictures, 35-year-old Nina and 38-year-old Shaun are seen in the lovely candle-lit setting where white flowers form an arch of flowers as the actress beamed with joy while accepting his proposal. Shaun shared his excitement on his own Instagram stories with a simple but heartfelt message: “Best night of my life,” along with a diamond ring and eternity symbol emoji to put out the special moment. In one photo, Shaun is seen on one knee while Nina is seen looking on with happy surprise, covering her mouth.
The happiness did not end there as the two lovebirds hugged each other warmly, with Shaun lifting Nina off the ground after she said “yes.” Dobrev proudly showed off her stunning five-carat diamond engagement ring, created by jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz, which caught everyone’s attention with its brilliance.
Shaun went all out to make sure his proposal was unforgettable. Though he had planned something else initially, unforeseen issues led him to change his strategy and make the big move in late October. The setting? A chic New York City restaurant called The Golden Swan. To keep the surprise under wraps, Shaun hid the engagement ring in different places around their home, including the tool shed and even a sock drawer.
But the night of the reservation, Nina was not at her best and wanted to get into bed for an impending trip to Africa. Undeterred Shaun devised a sly plan to get her into the restaurant. Assisted by his publicist he organized a rather compelling fake invitation to what Nina was led to believe was an intimate dinner hosted by the CFDA and Vogue’s Anna Wintour. He also designed the invite to look completely authentic, topping that all off to the surprise
Thinking she was off to a very special dinner, Nina went big-time and even styled herself in anticipation of what she thought would have been a high-profile event. Excitement went along with a bit of nervousness, though, when she later shared that she was worried about her late arrival because Vogue events tend to start on time. She recalled laughingly that “I was frantic she was waiting for me”. Her nerves were a flutter when she arrived in what was unmistakably quiet and empty restaurant, only compounding her fear of latecomers.
The two have been dating since 2019. Over the years, the fans have gotten glimpses into their adventures together as there seems to be only stronger bonds. The engagement now marks the next step that both of them, plus their fans, would hold as a memorable moment for it marks a whole new chapter in their love story.
