Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, on Tuesday, shared the heartening response from Princess of Wales after reaching out for her journey with cancer. Koirala is 54 years old; she wrote to Kate Middleton after learning about the health battle she faced in the earlier part of the year and expressed her support and solidarity.
“I wanted to reach out to HRH The Princess of Wales to send my good wishes, particularly due to my own experiences,” Koirala shared with Nepalese media. “I am deeply heartened to receive such a warm response from her and wish her the very best of health.”

Born in Biratnagar, Nepal, Koirala has made a significant mark in Hindi and Tamil cinema over the years. Koirala was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012. Her journey has its share of challenges and triumphs, and she has used the platform since she was in remission to become a voice for cancer awareness. This outreach by Koirala to the princess showed compassion and empathy from firsthand experience of the resilience it requires to face such battles over health.
Koirala emphasized that she not only wanted to be part of a community of other cancer patients but also that she was passionate about making others learn and have access to proper healthcare and early detection. “Having faced cancer myself, I know how isolating and challenging the journey can be, and I believe it is essential that we all play a part in changing that reality for others,” she told the Nepalese publication Khabar. She found inspiration in this journey and has been encouraging cancer patients to share her experiences with the world while raising awareness, especially concerning ovarian cancer, which, she feels, needs a wider understanding.
In September, the Princess of Wales stated that she had finished a round of “preventative chemotherapy” following her diagnosis, thus ending an emotionally and intensely healthful experience for her family. The princess admitted that the months of treatment had taught her the importance of focusing on what truly mattered, an experience that both her and Prince William felt encouraged them to reflect on life’s simple yet meaningful moments. “The last nine months have been some very tough months for our family. Life as you know it can change instantly and we had to seek ways to navigate stormy waters and a road less travelled,” she said on what she values most is keeping healthy.
The Message by the Princess resonates deep in the hearts of so many who appreciated not just the love but also respect, the family and resilience put through personal tests. She shared her thoughts with the nation, releasing a three-minute video showing a glimpse of life with Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, in Norfolk. Captured last month, the video shows the family enjoying nature, from beach play to relaxing together in the woods, offering a warm portrayal of the family’s close bond and strength. The sweet pictures of embracing William and Kate with their children and the joyful time together underline her words of love and gratitude.
When Princess Diana announced the pregnancy, it was reported that her and Prince Charles’s reaction had been one of great mutual support, describing the pregnancy as “wonderful” and stating that they would be there for her as she went through to full recovery. The family has not issued a public statement but insiders reveal they fully support the princess.
“As summer ends, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” the princess said, whose love and support from family and friends was so much valued throughout such a challenging time.
Recently, the Princess of Wales visited Southport in a special public interest visit, as she met families affected by a stabbing tragedy that occurred at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in July. The princess accompanied Prince William in a meeting with the families of young children Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar who had been affected by the attack. Arriving in Southport in a berry-colored outfit that seemed to match Prince William, Kate was warm and empathetic, making clear her commitment to connecting with the victims of tragedy, even as she deals with her own health issues.
Her appearance and gestures of thoughtfulness have continued to echo, emphasizing her commitment to being present for others in times of hardship.
