Frieze London 2024: A Year of Artistic Evolution

In fact, this year is the difference for Frieze London 2024, which will take place from October 9th until 13th in Regent’s Park, having a new floor plan to balance the presence of both blue-chip and smaller galleries. The three-day fair will feature artist-selected solo booths in curatorial sections, but also highlight the bigger names – Hurvin Anderson, Lubaina Himid, Rashid Johnson, and Yinka Shonibare – among younger artists such as Peter Uka, Magda Stawarska, Rob Davis, and Nengi Omuku. Pablo José Ramírez, a Hammer Museum curator, will also feature a special show called “Smoke,” along with more than 160 galleries.

As the international art world converges on London, there is also much going on beyond the main Frieze tent, as several galleries hold events in collaboration with a series of exhibitions. George Rouy, Yu Hong, and Pei Wang showed some exciting new talent at Hauser & Wirth, Lisson Gallery, and WORKPLACE, while established stars Tracey Emin, Yayoi Kusama, and Olivier Mosset present their work at White Cube, Victoria Miro, and MASSIMODECARLO.

Visiting the frieze, allied shows will include free viewing, not to mention the following: George Rouy in his first solo at Hauser & Wirth- where in his monochrome paintings figurative shape dissolves in search of identity in a modern world; Yayoi Kusama’s “EVERY DAY I PRAY FOR LOVE” at Victoria Miro, such finds both new works and an infinity-mirrored room for the first time; Tracey Emin returns to White Cube with an exhibition working deep into reflections on life, love, and mortality; cryptic enough to question the very nature of digital imagery, Pei Wang’s highly realistic paintings at WORKPLACE. They will bring together, for instance, the exhibition from Ella Walker at Pilar Corrias. Those are historical archetypes of women from a feminist perspective and “Islands of the Mind,” whose creator is Yu Hong, at Lisson Gallery. The latter is psychological landscape with reflections of the universal emotions of people.

Together with this Frieze London 2024 and different exhibitions throughout the city, it will create a rich and dynamic experience for art enthusiasts as it unites established and emerging voices in contemporary art.
