Slipknot’s Corey Taylor touches upon the latest revelation that frontman for the Foo Fighters Dave Grohl fathered a child out of his marriage. As Grohl announced earlier this month, it left all fans perplexed and disappointed.
The drummer, 55 years old, confessed that he was unfaithful to his wife, Jordyn Blum, whom he has been married to for 19 years. Grohl publicly declared in a statement on becoming a “loving and supportive parent” but also reiterated his commitment towards rebuilding the family’s trust and seeking forgiveness.
“It’s messy, 100 percent messy,” Corey Taylor, 50, said of the scandal as a guest on the Your Mom’s House podcast. He identified with Grohl, calling him “one of the nicest people on the planet,” but recognized the seriousness of the issue.
He most likely wanted to get ahead of the narrative. “Mistakes were made, obviously,” Taylor commented. He recognized this news has positively touched Grohl’s fan base-many who have cherished him for years for his positive image in the rock world.
“There’s no denying that it’s very irresponsible. I know many people get disheartened by it, given the kind of image Dave has built over the years,” continued Taylor. “But then nobody’s perfect. He is one of the last guys in the world you’ll ever expect to have that kind of image shattered.”
The nicest guy in rock” is something of a signature, Grohl, who has been a beloved figure in the music industry for years. Taylor told Grohl that he knows him to be that kind of guy, that the mistake does not change it.
“This doesn’t mean he’s not a nice person. It means he’s got issues, and he f***ed up,” Taylor said candidly. He said Grohl’s family will have a tough time but he did not try to divine the reasons why Grohl acted that way.

The frontman of the Foo Fighters, together with his wife Jordyn Blum, have been into marriage since 2003 and have three daughters: Violet. Grohl has secretly taken the identity of the mother of the new child as well as something else in his profession that he might have known about the affair.
Grohl’s professional life too has suffered from the revelation. Just days after his public declaration, Foo Fighters axed their headlining set at the Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut. On 26 September, in a mere message posted by the band, they said, “Foo Fighters will no longer be appearing at this weekend’s Soundside Music Festival.”. Check the festival website for more updates. The band never issued a statement regarding its cancellation and has been a point of rumor and speculation on Grohl’s personal life affecting his career. Right away, the festival came with announcements that Jack White and Greta Van Fleet would serve as new co-headliners, but the move left many fans disappointed.
Taylor speaks up on Grohl’s issue and gives further light on the complex wiring of humans, especially those in the public eye whose lives are an open book. Grohl is the rock star with such hits as “Learn to Fly,” catapulting him to millions of fans, but it was his private mistakes that nearly overshadowed them all. Still, what Taylor said already echoes how any hero, no matter so great, is flawed, but the journey to redemption, though hard, is possible.
And how all this comes out remains to be seen, but it certainly will affect Grohl’s future and career. Fans, even Taylor from fellow musicians, are also made to realize the humanity in Grohl’s mistakes; after all, everybody has his or her share of failing to meet expectations, even the nicest guy in rock.
