The champions have continued their dominance in Europe with a 5-0 win against Sparta Prague at Etihad Stadium. The win now means that the club has recorded an undefeated record of 26 successive matches winning, which is a record earlier set by Real Madrid.
Erling Haaland took the day once more, and ended with a three-goal hat-trick further to establishing his position as one of the world’s top all-time strikers. The Norwegian striker did that by clinical finishing and acrobatic ability, leaving defense of Sparta bewildered.
The match was opened with City attacking. Phil Foden opened the scoring early for City, curling a beautiful shot past the Sparta goalkeeper. Haaland added his name to the scoresheet in the second half with two exceptional goals that show how skilled and composed he is.
John Stones and Matheus Nunes also netted in City’s scoreline, ending a good game. The hosts dominated from the start; they had many scoring opportunities and always had the ball on their side of the pitch.
Sparta Prague struggled to match the tempo and quality that the English champions displayed, though. They just could not contain the power of the attack of the English champions and hardly presented any dangers to the City goal.
Yet this victory further confirms City as favorites for this season, all the way to perhaps winning the Champions League. With Haaland at the forefront and potent supporting casts, that will be an imposing force in the best club competition in Europe under Pep Guardiola.
