The highly publicized romance between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift just took a dramatic turn after an unverified ‘contract’ surfaced online. The purported document, which has been posted online, says the relationship is staged and, in fact, nothing more than a manufactured year-long PR stunt complete with a set-in-stone breakup date.
This alleged ‘contract’ has the header of Kelce’s PR company, Full Scope, and within it, it apparently details a plan for how and when the couple’s split was meant to go down. Along with that, it details just how the announcement should be made over social media. According to the document, three days after the separation, the breakup statement was to be issued to let the media frenzy cool down so the message would get across. According to the document, the announcement was to be made in a manner that is “gracious, respectful, and stress mutual respect.”.
One passage of the purported ‘contract’ says: “Travis and Taylor have decided to part ways after careful consideration. They value the personal lives of each other highly and appreciate your respect for privacy regarding this matter. They both are committed to their respective careers and personal growth. They remain friends and wish each other the best.
The document goes on to add that the breakup announcement would emphasize Kelce’s dedication to his NFL career and other sports endeavors, presenting the separation as a “natural part of life.” It also states that the press release would be forwarded to major media for maximum exposure.
The leaked document, as detailed as it was, was quickly hopped onto by Kelce’s representatives as being a fake. Full Scope sent out a release thoroughly denying the validity of the ‘contract,’ calling it “entirely false and fabricated and was not created, issued or authorized by this agency.”
In response to the situation, Kelce has hired legal representation to take action against those responsible for the forged documents. “We have engaged our legal team to initiate proceedings against the individuals or entities responsible for the unlawful and injurious forgery of documents,” Kelce’s representatives said in a statement to the Daily Mail.
The whole controversy started right after the ‘contract’ was shared on Reddit. And, boy, did people tear it apart in a very short time. Many comments on that post stated that the document did not look professional at all: “it reads like a high school assignment,” noticed one of the users. Others have theorized that this could have been created as a fake document using AI.
Adding a bit more intrigue to the situation, some cited Kelce’s agent, Jack Ketosyan, who once admitted to setting up “showmances”-the manufactured celebrity relationships created to drum up attention. In 2019, Ketosyan appeared on an Australian podcast in which he revealed that these “showmances” are used to “sell the hype, whether it was a concert, whether it was a new album, or whether it was a new film.” However, there’s no evidence to imply Ketosyan had his hands on this fake ‘contract’ between Kelce and Swift.
The fans of Kelce and Swift can only speculate as this saga continues to unfold. Now that legal action is in full gear, the way the forgers are brought to book and changed perceptions about the couple in question will have to be seen.
