Cardi B Fires Back at Haters for Working Out Just Days After Giving Birth

Just days after welcoming her third child on September 7, Cardi B faced significant backlash for hitting the gym. The 31-year-old rapper went to social media and claimed that on September 16 she had spent 30 minutes on the stair master, which again caused a frenzy over this issue among her followers.

A particularly notable comment about X (formerly Twitter) just so happened to catch Cardi’s attention: “Just barely a week. Yoh, the pressure women in the industry are under? Insane.” This post seemed to acknowledge and allude to the fact that Cardi was being placed under undue pressure to bounce back quickly after delivery.

To this concern, Cardi responded directly by explaining how she approached postpartum fitness: “This is my third baby and postpartum is a little different from my first two. I’m not doing heavy lifting, no muscle straining, squatting, none of that. just cardio.”

Cardi continued to explain why one must keep herself active immediately after delivery. According to her, “Sometimes to avoid postpartum depression you gotta keep your mind busy and for me that’s work and staying active.” For Cardi, exercise means to keep sane during the postpartum period.

She also brought to light an inconsistency in what people were criticizing her for. Cardi said, “But you know what’s funny?? Y’all dragged me down when I gained 15 pounds because I was 5 months pregnant but now y’all fake concerned and wanna talk about pressure??? Y’all said I was pregnant to avoid working now that you see I’m still at it it’s something else??

She took the remarks personally as no matter what she does, people are going to talk about her. “So yeah, I’m taking this personal but it’s FOR ME because either way y’all are gonna have something to say.”

In response, that fan who first raised the concern quickly apologized, showing their intent. She said, “I truly did not mean any harm and the tweet was never an indictment on you but rather society’s expectations of women and ‘snap back’ culture.”

They also displayed support this way: “The response to the OP frankly tells me that there was no intent to harm. But hope you and baby are doing all right. Huge fan,” with a red heart emoji.

Cardi accepted the apology and acknowledged the fan’s sentiments. She replied, “Totally babe!! And I do agree about society and pressure. I just was never the type to care about snap back after birth.”

She shares a new baby daughter with her husband via separation, she and him along with two older kids, 6-year-old Kulture and 3-year-old Wave.

Cardi B’s Comments Reflect A Wider Conversation Regarding Societal Expectations And Pressures Women Confront-Often Especially Those In The Public Eye. As she navigates the challenges of postpartum recovery, Cardi continues to try to balance the personal with the scrutiny that comes with being a celebrity.
