Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has given the green light for Matthew Anderson and Ben Summers to join Admira Wacker on loan.
Matthew Anderson played for Admira Wacker this season at left-back with some prominence. He scored one goal and provided six assists in 21 league games in his last campaign. Anderson talks of his positive experience at the Austrian club, stating that it’s been great being part of the team and sharing that it had been nice to get the opportunity to play somewhere else as well.
Admira Wacker confirmed the latest transfer news through their social media and announced the following: “Transfer news: Two Celtic talents on loan in the southern city! Admira has secured two reinforcements from Scotland! Matthew Anderson and Ben Summers will play for the southern city team on loan from Celtic Glasgow.
Along with Anderson, Ben Summers is also transferring to Admira Wacker. Summers recently had his first spell in the first team with Celtic under Ange Postecoglou, but he has been hungering for more regular action. He has been campaigning with the B team in the Lowland League of late, but this loan transfer represents his chance for serious experience on the big stage.
It does, however, align with Rodgers’ approach to giving his youngsters more playing time and exposure, which can greatly help them in their overall development process and someday contribute much to the team’s success.
