King Charles is said to be considering reuniting with his prodigal son Prince Harry after turning to the clergy for spiritual advice following Harry’s latest memoir, “Spare”, as well as the fallout from the infamous Oprah Winfrey interview with Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, and the Netflix documentary.
Despite the tensions, the King supposedly has faith that his son will eventually look back at the royal fold. As the source from within the royal family indicated, “Charles misses his son. He still loves Harry and wants him back for personal reasons—regardless of whether he and Meghan decide to return to royal duties. Harry will always be Charles’s much-loved son.”
This message of reconciliation has emerged following a troubled period, with public revelations in the context of continued family strife, between father and son. The King reportedly wants to mend that reciprocal rapport and believes it can be mended. According to the source, “He believes Harry can come back. He misses the friendship they had, and the door is always open to him and his family. He does not wish years of strife and division overshadowing his reign.”
But the King, for his part, said to be hoping for a rapprochement between his person and Prince Harry, cannot seriously consider one while the feud with the first in line to the throne is still very alive. As commentator Nigel Nelson of GB News said, “That rift sounds like one that’s going to be very difficult to mend.”
As much as the tensions are already crumbling, it is shown that King Charles might be a way to bring peace to his sons, such that, observers believe the differences between members of the Royal Family may be narrowed. The King may be in a position to thaw these relations since he so desires peace within the family, though the road to reconciliation would be long and wrought with challenges.
Quite a favorable view for the King would be if there were a truce because, for all that is worth, he is said to be mulling over the fact of his newfound realization of unity within the family. This may, in fact, be prompting him to seek advice from religious leaders and others who would help guide him through these waters.
Ever since his confession of stepping back from his royal duties, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been residing in the United States. All of this, along with a newly acquired frankness in interviews and various publications, has strained relationships with other members of the royal family, in particular Prince William and King Charles.
However, the King remains hopeful that someday his youngest son will return home. This source reiterated that King Charles would not want his reign to be on the wrong foot because of a son that he has alienated. More so, he is prepared to leave the door wide and ajar for Harry.
While of course there is still nuance in the situation between Prince Harry and the rest of the royal family, it seems that King Charles hopes for some semblance of reconciliation, and a renewed relationship isn’t entirely off the table. For now, how these family dynamics play out is anybody’s guess, but King Charles clings to the hope that one day his family will heal once more and come back together again.
