The son of Liam Gallagher posted a development update on a possible Oasis reunion. Gene Gallagher, whose mother is singer Nicole Appleton of the All Saints group, is a young musician who has just opened some nights for his father’s 30th anniversary tour. He spoke to The Times about the new band VILLANELLE and whether or not his dad and uncle Noel will reunite Oasis.
Asked if Oasis might get back together, Gene replied, “It’s nothing to do with me.I mean, will they? I don’t know.” He pointed out that his father may want this to happen too, adding, “I get the feeling my dad wants it, too. Let’s hope it happens. It’s easier to speak about after a couple of pints.”
Gene said he would “love” the Gallagher brothers to reunite and revealed that he joked with his cousin Noel’s daughter Anaïs about holding an intervention, but their fathers were “too smart for that”.
The feud between Liam and Noel has been very public ever since Noel walked out on the band back in 2009. There are constant stories about a potential reunion, with last month seeing reports that talks had come close to an Oasis reunion before collapsing again in July. A source told The Mirror, “An Oasis reunion has been hoped for for years.it doesn’t get much closer than booking Wembley, and their teams were devastated when it all collapsed yet again.”
In fact, Liam himself tweeted down the rumour, saying perhaps Oasis was looking for a new lead vocalist.
One person who’d be pretty stoked about an Oasis reunion is former bandmate Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs. During a Radio X special, Bonehead said, “Never say never.I’d love to see it.” As much as the young kids get a boot out of Liam’s solo shows, so if anything, a reunion will be worth it for a new generation of fans who never got to see Oasis live.
Bonehead reflected on Liam’s recent performances’ energy: “When I’m on stage with Liam.and we play Rock ‘N’ Roll Star, the place erupts. People are bouncing higher and harder than they did at some of the gigs back in the day.” He continued: “When I see people down the front and young kids, that to me, makes me go, ‘It would be worth it just for that.'”.
