Off-budget retailer and home to many a bargain, Home Bargains, has issued an urgent warning to its customers. Eight of its products have been recalled due to serious safety concerns. If you have purchased any of these items, you are strongly advised not to use or consume them but return them to the store for a full refund.

The recall was announced on the Home Bargains website, where they have highlighted the potential risks associated with each of these products. Ranging from children’s toys to table salt and a popular chocolate snack, the dangers include choking hazards, contamination, and allergy risks.

Here is a closer look at each of the recalled products and the reasons why they are a danger:

  1. Revels 205g Slimpouch: Small pieces of rubber

This includes the 205g Slimpouch of Revels, one of its famous chocolate treats. According to Mars Wrigley UK—the parent company of Revels—the recall is a precautionary measure. It turns out that some packs might contain very small pieces of rubber, which could be harmful if eaten.

The affected batch codes are 344G2SLO00 with a best-before date of October 27, 2024, and 345B1SLO00 with a best-before date of November 3, 2024. If you have this product at home, you are asked not to consume it.

2. My First Drop & Roll Tower: Potential Choking Hazard

Parents, beware! If you have the “My First Drop & Roll Tower” toy at home, do not let your little ones play with it at all. This baby toy is now recalled due to a serious choking hazard.

The rattling balls included with the toy are smaller than the required standard. A young child could easily put one of these small balls in their mouth and choke. The warning is clear: Do not use this toy, and return it to Home Bargains immediately.

3. Dri-Pak Table Salt, 750g: Plastic Contamination

Another product on the list of recalls is the 750g pack of Dri-Pak Table Salt. The problem with this product is that it might have an added contaminant in the form of small pieces of plastic. There exists a potential risk from eating food that has been seasoned with this salt.

The affected batch codes are 3205 and 3206. Customers are advised to return this salt in the store and to discontinue the use of this salt for their food.

4. Chocomel, 300ml: Allergy Risk

For those who love to have a bottle of Chocomel, here’s some important news: Interstoc Ltd is recalling its 300ml bottles of Chocomel because the ingredient list does not declare the presence of milk in English on some batches, which could prove serious to anyone who has an intolerance to or allergy from milk.

Affected best-before dates are November 7, 2023, and November 29, 2023. In case of an allergy or intolerance to milk, do not drink it. Return to Home Bargains for a refund.

5. Optivive Allergy Eye Mist Soothing, 10ml: Contamination Concern

EM Pharma is recalling batches of Optivive Allergy Eye Mist 10ml, as the product could be contaminated and may, if used, cause some health problems. The affected batches are those with expiry dates February 2026 and April 2026. Home Bargains has issued an urgent warning: DO NOT USE THIS EYE MIST. RETURN TO STORE.

6. PIFCO Convector Heater with Turbo and Timer: Fire Hazard

Winter may be coming, but if you’ve bought a PIFCO Convector Heater with Turbo and Timer, don’t turn it on. The heater is being recalled as it may overheat and catch on fire.

This is because some heaters have been fitted with an incorrect size fuse. If bought between 1 November 2023 and 12 December 2023, customers should look out for batch codes 596131, 596133, 596140, 596141, 596147, 596148, and 596149. The advice is not to use this heater and return it to Home Bargains.

7. Saugatuck Brewing Co. Neapolitan Milk Stout 355ml and Blueberry & Maple Stout 355ml: Allergy Risk

Attention, beer lovers. This affects Saugatuck Brewing Co., which is recalling its Neapolitan Milk Stout and Blueberry & Maple Stout. The products in question were sold in 355ml bottles. These items are being taken off the market because of an allergy risk.

These beers can be dangerous for people allergic to dairy. If you have bought these stouts, do not drink them. Return them to the store for a refund.

What Should You Do?

If you have any of these products at home, the best course of action will be to discontinue further use or consumption. Return them to Home Bargains for an absolute full refund. Customer safety comes first for this retailer, who is taking precautionary measures to ensure the same.

Look out for product recalls and warnings, especially with young children and allergies in your home. Know the latest information to keep your family safe from potential accidents.
