Barcelona’s Bid for Dani Olmo Rejected by RB Leipzig Despite Verbal Agreement

According to reports, RB Leipzig has rejected Barcelona’s most recent bid for Dani Olmo, a Spanish player who remained keen on moving to the Catalan giants.

It is reported by Sport that Barcelona presented a second bid in the sum of €50 million with an additional €15 million in add-ons for Olmo. While the club has moved on from Nico Williams, Olmo remains one of the priorities in the reinforcement plans. On the other side, despite the Catalans’ eagerness, the Bundesliga outfit is insistent since the offer doesn’t convince them at all.

Leipzig’s dissatisfaction does not stop at the total fee but at its structure. The German club wants a guaranteed €55 million, with the bulk of this sum to be paid in one go this summer. As things stand, Barcelona cannot meet these financial conditions.

This case epitomizes the tight financial position Barcelona is in at the moment, much as it is trying to strengthen the team for this upcoming season. Even though it had reached a verbal agreement with Olmo, the fact that the club failed to meet Leipzig’s demands sets a clear example of how complex the dynamics can be in a high-profile transfer.

Though the case remains optimistic for Barcelona, it ends with a stalemate against Leipzig, meaning more talks have to be carried out. For the striking of any deal, both teams need to balance their financial and strategic priorities. In the following weeks, there will be determination on whether Olmo is going to actually don the jersey of FC Barcelona or stay back at Leipzig.
