The Food Standards Agency has issued a recall for the product Al’Fez Natural Tahini, sold in most supermarkets, like Tesco and Asda, as it may be contaminated with salmonella. Contaminated items may cause people to become sick with fever, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. Consumers are being asked to return products with specific batch codes and best-before dates for an immediate refund.
There is a big health alert for Brits who do shopping in Tesco, Asda, and other chains. An everyday food product is said to be carrying a high health risk alert. Al’Fez Natural Tahini, a paste one cooks with, is suspected to be contaminated with salmonella, a dangerous bacterium that may pose a threat to human beings’ lives.
This is sold in 160g jars with the batch codes of 3355, 4004, 4023, 4024, 4039 and 4040 and best before dates ranging from June 2025 to August 2025. AB World Foods Ltd is urgently recalling the product. They have advised consumers to discontinue the product immediately in the case of purchasing these affected batches. Salmonella poisoning symptoms usually include sickness, fever, diarrhoea and stomach cramps.
This recall has been supported by the Food Standards Agency, and point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all stores where the tahini was sold. Notices will be placed to explain why and for what reason the product is being recalled and what customers should do if they have already purchased it.
AB World Foods Ltd stated in its consumer notice: “We are recalling these specific batches of Al’Fez Natural Tahini as a precautionary measure due to the presence of salmonella. No other products or batches are affected.” The company has told them customers can return the jars to any store for a full refund — without even needing a receipt. Customers who bought online should contact the Al’Fez consumer care team directly.
This is to remind tips about food safety and consumer awareness. Salmonella is considered serious because it causes serious illness in susceptible populations, such as young children, old-aged people, and people having weak immune systems. By speedily recalling the affected product, AB World Foods Ltd is preventing any further health risks to consumers.
Separately, the company has also recalled its Extra Special Sea Salt & Chardonnay Wine Vinegar Hand Cooked Crisps. This was as a consequence of packaging, at which stage a proportion of packs were found to include cheese & onion crisps, rather than the identified supposedly packed sea salt & chardonnay vinegar. The mislabeling poses a potential health risk to consumers who have an allergy to or intolerance of milk constituents. Asda said it was advising any customers with an allergy or intolerance not to consume the product, to return them to a nearest store for a refund.
The summary shows that consumers have to be watchful over the safety of their foods. Consumers are to check the product label and take heed of recall notices to ensure health safety. Manufacturers and retailers work really hard to ensure that all food products on shelves from up and down the UK are safe and wholesome. By acting promptly to the potential salmonella contamination and mislabeling issues, they are however in a position to continue building trust with consumers while continuing to hold food safety up across the country.
