NetherRealm Studios has officially unveiled ‘Year 2’ of Mortal Kombat 1, titled ‘Khaos Reigns’. Launching on September 24, 2024, this expansion introduces new story chapters, Kombat Pack 2, and the return of Animalities. The Animality feature will be accessible to all players through a free update.

Previous datamines have proven accurate, with new DLC characters now confirmed as Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, T-1000, and Conan the Barbarian. The Mortal Kombat characters will be available at launch, with release dates for the guest fighters to be announced later.

Instead of making an announcement at EVO 2024 last weekend, series co-creator Ed Boon revealed there will be a panel today, July 26, 2024. The panel will focus on Mortal Kombat 1 “Year 2”, discussing the continuation of the story, upcoming fighters, and some major surprises.
Previously, Ed Boon mentioned that NetherRealm was planning to release a “second part with more story” in the future. A recent datamine has potentially uncovered the next set of DLC fighters for the game.
