Adele is belting out her final goodbyes (for now) to the music scene. After a grueling two-year residency in Las Vegas and a massive upcoming stint in Munich, the powerhouse singer plans to hit pause on her music career.
“I’m running on fumes, honestly,” Adele confessed in a recent interview with German broadcaster ZDF. With her voice worn out and her creative well feeling dry, she’s ready to explore other avenues.
“New music isn’t even on my radar,” she admitted. “I crave a break after all this. Maybe some time to delve into other creative pursuits.”
This hiatus comes after a whirlwind few years. Her most recent album, released in 2021, was a smash hit, and her Las Vegas residency, nearing its 100th and final show, has been a demanding yet emotionally rewarding experience.
“It’s intimate, but it’s also a powerful emotional exchange every night,” she explained. “Munich will likely be even more intense, but that’s exciting too.”
The upcoming Munich shows are a stark contrast to the Vegas residency. Adele will trade the intimacy of Caesar’s Palace for a specially built stadium designed for a staggering 74,000 fans per night.
“It’s going to be a whole new beast,” she said, a hint of nervous energy in her voice. “But the fans deserve the best experience possible, and the video installations will be incredible.”
Despite the glitz and glamor, the ever-present spotlight has taken its toll. “Honestly, I miss anonymity the most,” Adele confessed. “Creating music is pure joy, but the fame side of things? I could do without it.”
This desire for a normal life fuels her decision to step back. “The fact that people connect with my music is unbelievable,” she said. “But the balance between that and privacy is a constant struggle.”
While fans worldwide will undoubtedly miss her presence, Adele’s hiatus is a well-deserved chance to recharge and rediscover her spark. And who knows, maybe this break will inspire a whole new wave of creative energy for the future.
