In a fitting tribute to his influence and popularity, American rapper Snoop Dogg has been chosen as one of the final torchbearers for the Olympic flame ahead of the opening ceremony in Paris.
At 52, Snoop Dogg will carry the torch through Saint-Denis, a vibrant area in the north of Paris and home to the iconic Stade de France Olympic Stadium, on Friday. This segment marks the penultimate leg of the torch’s journey, culminating in a grand finale at the Eiffel Tower.
Since May, the Olympic torch has traversed France, passed between numerous notable figures, including former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Formula One driver Charles Leclerc, and actress Halle Berry. Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. in Los Angeles—the host city for the 2028 Olympics—joins this esteemed list.
In Saint-Denis, Snoop Dogg will be in good company, accompanied by French actress Laetitia Casta and renowned French rapper MC Solaar, as they collectively usher in the highly anticipated Paris Games.
