Set in stormy Oklahoma, the story follows Kate Cooper, played by Edgar-Jones, who is drawn back to tornado territory by her friend Javi (Ramos) to test a new tracking system. She encounters Tyler Owens (Powell), a storm-chaser and social media star, leading to a competitive and intense adventure.

Critical reception has been mixed but largely positive. The Wrap highlighted the film’s ability to stand out among modern blockbusters, while Entertainment Weekly called it a top-tier summer movie. Screen International had a different take, noting the film’s serious tone contrasted with its action-packed scenes. Empire and IndieWire appreciated the sequel’s visual appeal and blend of genres, although BBC and The Independent felt it lacked innovative surprises.

As Twisters hits theaters in the UK on July 17 and in the US on July 19, audiences can look forward to a fresh and exciting take on the beloved disaster genre.
