Introducing the New Audi A5: A High-Tech and Eco-Friendly Upgrade

Audi has placed an all-new A5 at its current lineup, replacing A4. The new A5 will feature a raft of other engines, which includes the current lineup of petrol, a diesel, and a hybrid variant. This model comes with a new platform providing improved technology inside the cabin and more efficient engines for both saloon and estate variants.

Audi has just launched its newest beast, called the new A5, meant to supplant the A4 as a more upscale model. As in this new car, there are three petrol, diesel, and clever new hybrid system engine options. Let’s get deeper to find what makes the new A5 super.

What’s New?
The A5 has been designed to be more modern and efficient than the A4. It will be available in two styles: saloon and estate. The bad news is that this time, coupe and cabriolet versions won’t be offered.

Engines and Power
The A5 comes with different engines:
– Petrol Engines: There are two turbocharged petrol engines available. One is a little low, at 148 horsepower. The second gives out an increased 201 bhp. Both variants are associated with dual-clutch automatic gearboxes, and for the more highly powered variant, Audi’s Quattro four-wheel drive is made available as an option.

– Diesel Engines: If diesel is more up your alley, then the 2.0-litre turbo has been electrified and sees a power hike to 201 bhp. It is also fitted with Audi’s latest Mild-Hybrid Electric Vehicle Plus technology for MHEV, which not only helps run the engine more smoothly but also reduces CO2 emissions.

– Hybrid Engine: The hybrid variant further pushes on with new technology developed by Audi. It is fitted with two motor generators, which make the car efficient and provide better regenerative braking.

The Top Model
The most powerful version—the Audi S5—reverts to running on petroleum again. It is fitted with a 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 362 bhp that is more potent than the previous diesel version. This engine also troubled lesser CO2.

Size and Space.
Well, the new A5 is larger than the A4, hence giving more space inside the car. Now, it is 67 millimeters longer and 13 millimeters wider. Long wheelbase—in other words, distance between the front and back wheels—increased by another 68 millimeters. There is now ample room for passengers to comfortably sit.

Interior, Design and Technology

The A5 has sleek, modern design. It comes flanked by smooth edges, the same as the A6 E-tron concept car. Of the highlights, the new lights stand out at the front and back; these are set with OLED technology that can display eight different light patterns. There is also a dynamic mode including constant changes in light display.

Future Plans

Next year, Audi will add a plug-in hybrid version of the A5 that will have a range of up to 62 miles on electric power alone. The new platform supporting the A5-named the Premium Platform Combustion, or PPC-is designed to support a wide variety of powertrains-including hybrids and electrics that will start arriving very soon.

Why the Change?
The reason for the renaming from A4 to A5 is due to the new nomenclature strategy at Audi. Going forward, Audi will reserve odd numbers for internal combustion engines—the gasoline and diesel, basically—and even numbers for EVs.

Conclusion
First and foremost, the new Audi A5 is a serious step up from the A4. Its latest generation of engines refreshed design, and revised technology indeed come with everything bolted into place: luxury, efficiency, and performance. Either petrol, diesel, or hybrid, the A5 is primed and prepped to answer today’s drivers while being easier on the environment.
