Doja Cat took to X (previously known as Twitter) to address an issue that had apparently been bothering her: parents bringing their children to her explicit performances. The 28-year-old rapper made it clear that her music and shows are not intended for younger audiences.
In a series of tweets, she expressed her frustration, stating, “IDK what the f**k you think this is but i don’t make music for children so leave your kids at home motherfucker [sic].” She continued by questioning why parents would bring their children to shows where she performs explicit songs about adult themes.
She further emphasized her point by mentioning the graphic nature of some of her lyrics, including references to sexual acts. Doja Cat bluntly stated, “im rapping about cm why are you bringing your offspring to my show [sic],” and followed up with “rappin about eatin d*k and pissin on his v-cut, leave your mistake at home [sic].”
While the specific incident that prompted her tweets remains unclear, it seems that Doja Cat wanted to make it known that her performances are intended for mature audiences. This comes after her recent controversial performance at Coachella, where she closed out the second weekend with a provocative and explicit show. On social media people are discussing her crossing boundaries recently like in the visuals for “Paint The Town Red,” the Los Angeles native cozied up with the Grim Reaper while crooning, “Mm, she the devil/ She a bad lil’ b**ch, she a rebel.” Elsewhere, “Demons” from Scarlet prompted devil-worshipping allegations, which she addressed during an interview with Ebro Darden.
“I did it on purpose, and it’s this big ruse to make people react,” she said. “When the f**k did I say that I was a Satanist? Or even go marching outside the church? When the f**k did I say that? It’s really tacky and annoying and discredits a lot of the hard work that I’ve put in.”
