We all experience suffering in our lives. It can be physical, emotional, or spiritual. We may feel like God is far away when we are suffering, but He is always with us. The Bible tells us that nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:35, 37). So, when we are suffering, where is God?
God is with us in our suffering. He knows our pain and He is there to comfort us. He is not distant and uncaring. He is close and loving. He understands our struggles and He is there to help us through them. He is the source of our strength and hope.
God is also with us in our suffering in the form of His people. He wants us to turn to Him and to His church for support and comfort. He knows that when we are in pain, we need the love and support of our brothers and sisters in Christ. He also wants us to turn to His Word for guidance and direction. His Word is a source of hope and encouragement in times of suffering.
God is also with us in our suffering in the form of His promises. He has promised us that He will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). He has promised us that He will work all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). He has promised us that He will never give us more than we can handle (1 Corinthians 10:13). These promises give us hope and strength in times of suffering.
God is also with us in our suffering in the form of His grace. He has promised us that He will never stop loving us (Jeremiah 31:3). He has promised us that He will forgive us and restore us (Isaiah 43:25). He has promised us that He will give us the strength to endure our suffering (2 Corinthians 12:9). These promises remind us that God is with us in our suffering and that He will never leave us.
Finally, God is with us in our suffering in the form of His victory. He has promised us that He will give us the victory over our suffering (Romans 8:35, 37). He has promised us that He will bring us through our suffering and into a place of joy and peace (Romans 8:18). He has promised us that He will use our suffering to bring glory to His name (Romans 8:28). These promises remind us that, despite our suffering, God is with us and that He will give us the victory.
When we are suffering, God is right beside us. He is with us in our suffering in the form of His presence, His people, His promises, His grace, and His victory. He wants to show us His love and give us a purpose through His Word. He will never leave us or forsake us. He will never give us more than we can handle. He will give us the victory over our suffering. No matter what we are going through, God is with us and He will give us the victory.
