Carlos “”Carl”” Bruner is the main antagonist of the 1990 film Ghost. He is an bank accountant and Sam Wheat’s former best friend turned arch-nemesis. Carl is portrayed by Tony Goldwyn in the film.
Carl is first introduced as Sam’s best friend and business partner. However, it is soon revealed that he is actually a greedy and selfish man who has been embezzling money from the bank. He also plans to murder Sam’s girlfriend, Molly Jensen, in order to keep his secret safe.
Carl is a master manipulator and liar. He is able to convince Sam that he is innocent and has been framed for the embezzlement. He also uses his charm and charisma to gain the trust of other characters in the film.
Despite his outwardly friendly demeanor, Carl is a ruthless and dangerous criminal. He is willing to do whatever it takes to protect his secret and get what he wants. He even goes so far as to threaten to kill Molly if Sam does not comply with his demands.
