The journey of K-Pop sensation BLACKPINK’s youngest member, Lisa, continues to be marked by remarkable achievements. The Thai rapper, who now calls South Korea her base, remains a constant presence in the headlines, whether due to contract renewal discussions or her impressive roster of brand endorsements. And now, Lisa has made history by becoming the inaugural K-Pop artist to be inducted into the prestigious Asian Hall of Fame.
Known by her birth name Lalisa Manobal, the K-Pop star embarked on her musical journey with the group in 2016 after years of training. She debuted alongside fellow members Jennie, Rose, and Jisoo, all of whom are concurrently pursuing their individual careers. As the band commemorates its seventh anniversary, discussions surrounding their contract renewal with YG Entertainment are currently underway.
Over the course of her seven-year career, Lisa has consistently etched her name into the annals of history. She has evolved into a global cultural icon, standing as an ambassador for several prestigious brands. Her partnerships include collaborations with CELINE, Bulgari, Mac, Adidas, Penshoppe, AIS Thailand, Chivas Regal, and numerous South Korean cosmetic brands. In tandem with BLACKPINK’s record-breaking achievements, Lisa has shined just as brightly. As reported by Billboard, the 26-year-old artist has been revealed as one of the honorees to be inducted into the esteemed 2023 Asian Hall of Fame. Other distinguished figures inducted alongside Lisa include TOKiMONSTA, Ben Fong-Torres, Freddie Mercury, Johnny Cash, Ryuichi Sakamoto, TOKiMONSTA, and Far*East Movement.
The Asian Hall of Fame is dedicated to advancing the recognition of Asian and Indigenous leadership accomplishments and contributions to the United States and beyond. Launched by the Robert Chinn Foundation in 2004, the initiative focuses on nurturing local youth, fostering cross-cultural content, advocating for legislation, and providing support for women founders.
Lisa is set to receive the honor as a Cultural Icon, acknowledging her significant contributions to the music industry. The induction ceremony is scheduled for October 21 at the illustrious Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.
Heartfelt congratulations to BLACKPINK’s Lisa and her devoted fans, BLINKS.
