K-pop has been steadily gaining in popularity over the past few years, but is it more popular than rap? According to a recent report, the answer is no. Pop, rock and oldies were the top three favorite genres from across the globe, while hip-hop/rap, dance/electronic and indie/alternative also preceded K-pop in the rankings. Metal, R&B and classical music followed.
The report, which was released on 26-Sept-2019, surveyed more than 7,000 people in seven countries. It found that hip-hop was the most popular genre in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. In the United States, hip-hop/rap was the most popular genre with 30% of respondents saying it was their favorite. In Canada, hip-hop/rap was the second most popular genre with 24% of respondents saying it was their favorite. In the United Kingdom, hip-hop/rap was the third most popular genre with 22% of respondents saying it was their favorite.
The report also found that hip-hop is particularly popular among those aged 16-24. In the United States, 41% of those aged 16-24 said hip-hop/rap was their favorite genre. In Canada, 36% of those aged 16-24 said hip-hop/rap was their favorite genre. In the United Kingdom, 33% of those aged 16-24 said hip-hop/rap was their favorite genre.
K-pop, on the other hand, was the least popular genre in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. In the United States, only 4% of respondents said K-pop was their favorite genre. In Canada, only 5% of respondents said K-pop was their favorite genre. In the United Kingdom, only 6% of respondents said K-pop was their favorite genre.
K-pop is more popular in other countries, however. In South Korea, K-pop is the most popular genre with 40% of respondents saying it was their favorite. In Japan, K-pop is the second most popular genre with 28% of respondents saying it was their favorite. In China, K-pop is the third most popular genre with 22% of respondents saying it was their favorite.
K-pop is also popular among those aged 16-24. In South Korea, 60% of those aged 16-24 said K-pop was their favorite genre. In Japan, 46% of those aged 16-24 said K-pop was their favorite genre. In China, 43% of those aged 16-24 said K-pop was their favorite genre.
So, while K-pop is gaining in popularity, it is still not as popular as hip-hop/rap. Hip-hop/rap is the most popular genre in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. It is also particularly popular among those aged 16-24. K-pop is more popular in other countries, particularly South Korea, Japan, and China. However, it is still not as popular as hip-hop/rap.
Overall, it is clear that hip-hop/rap is more popular than K-pop. K-pop is gaining in popularity, but it still has a long way to go before it can catch up to hip-hop/rap. For now, hip-hop/rap remains the most popular genre in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
