A study has highlighted the benefits of pink drinks for an energy boost. During the study, participants were asked to run on a treadmill for thirty minutes. Throughout the exercise , they rinsed their mouths with either a pink drink or a clear drink .both the drinks were exactly the same and the only differed in appearance. The researchers chose pink as it is associated with sweetness , and therefore, increases expectations of sugar and carbohydrates intake .
The researchers wanted to assess whether a pink drink that had no carb stimulus could elicit similar benefits through a potential placebo effect .
The results show that the participants ran an average of 212 meters further with the pink drink. Feelings of pleasure were also enhanced, as participants found running more enjoyable.
