Social Media Platforms in India.

With the social media giants not complying with the Indian government’s ethics and as the deadline comes near i.e. 26th.

People are rushing to save their data and resort to installing apps like Telegram, etc.

The three-month deadline given by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MEITy) to accept these guidelines ends on May 25th but none of the giants has so far accepted the new regulations.

The US-based social media platforms will have to appoint compliance officers from India. The officer will overlook the complaints, monitor the content and remove it if it is objectionable.

Such rules are not only applicable to social media platforms but also to OTT platforms. If these companies do not come into agreement with the guidelines by 25th, they will lose their status and criminal action can be taken against them.
