Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce is extending his interests into the world of cinema even more. With his romance with pop star Taylor Swift only heating up, Kelce is now in negotiations to appear in an upcoming action-comedy film, Loose Cannons, per The Hollywood Reporter.

With a football career already keeping Kelce in the public eye, he is no stranger to life beyond athletics. Some of his new forays into the public light include high-profile advertisements, guest spots on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, and television hosting gigs. But this latest move into film is a huge new chapter in his career.

Lionsgate has been cooking up a film titled Loose Cannons with Chad Stahelski set to produce alongside his 87Eleven Entertainment partner, Jason Spitz. Penned by Tim Dowling, the writer behind Adam Sandler's romantic comedy Just Go With It, the screenplay hopes to evoke action-comedy greats such as Lethal Weapon, Bad Boys, and even Rush Hour.

The plot of Loose Cannons is based on the premise that there's a loose cannon in every precinct of any police department who breaks the rules and gets matched up with another atypical partner. While details of Kelce's role are being kept tight-lipped, this project looks locked in to be a showcase for what he can do outside the gridiron.

Now, with Kelce preparing for the upcoming NFL season, the start date for Loose Cannons is unknown. The start of the 2024 season is not far away; hence, the million-dollar question is how this tight end is going to manage his burgeoning acting life and his commitments to the Chiefs.

This film role is just one of the many off-field ventures Kelce has pursued in recent years. In 2020, he made an appearance in an episode for Showtime's comedy Moonbase 8. His duties as a host on Saturday Night Live in March 2023 again proved the versatile nature and appeal that extends beyond the sports world.

More recently, Kelce assumed hosting duties for the TV program Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?, a spinoff of the wildly popular Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? series. The show, taped during the football offseason, will premiere on Amazon Prime on October 16—a conveniently Chiefs-bye-week date.

Kelce has already got another high-profile project, a role in Ryan Murphy's up-and-coming FX series Grotesquerie. The ten-episode horror drama—the brainchild of the creator of both Glee and American Horror Story—premieres in September. It follows a detective on the hunt for a sequence of heinous crimes, although just what Kelce's character will be doing has yet to be confirmed.

Kelce discussed his time on set with his brother Jason Kelce during an episode of their New Heights podcast in May. "It's been so much fun," Kelce said, but then admitted that he feels like a jabroni, like an amateur: "I haven't gotten fired yet. They haven't told me to kick rocks after the first week."

Though a little insecure, Kelce said he feels grateful for the cast and crew who have his back. "Everybody's just been so helpful in making me feel comfortable and giving me the direction I need and the coaching I need to portray this part," he said. "I'm just taking it scene-by-scene and making sure I remember my lines. I'm very amateur at this."

With the NFL season just a few weeks away, Kelce's focus will soon shift back to the gridiron. The Kansas City Chiefs get ready for what should be an epic battle against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5 at Arrowhead Stadium. This season, Kelce and his Chiefs are gunning for an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat that would help solidify their place in NFL lore.

As for his relationship with Taylor Swift, the pop superstar is expected to become a regular attendee at his games, through which the athlete would balance these two careers: football and entertainment.
