Hollywood trade publication Deadline has reported that Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has been cast in Spider-Man 4, alongside returning lead Tom Holland.
While her role remains undisclosed, speculation among fans suggests she could portray Jean Grey, the powerful X-Men mutant. However, neither Marvel Studios nor Sony Pictures have officially confirmed the casting. The highly anticipated sequel is set for release in July 2026.
In Hollywood, casting news often surfaces in industry publications before studios confirm it. This can happen for several reasons—an actor may be in final negotiations but has yet to sign a contract, studios might leak information to gauge audience reactions, or an agent could use the buzz to generate interest.
Occasionally, deals fall through, meaning that until official confirmation arrives, Sink's involvement in the film remains uncertain.
The last Spider-Man installment, No Way Home (2021), became a box office sensation, raking in $1.9 billion globally. The film ended with Peter Parker accidentally opening the multiverse, leading to the return of past Spider-Men, played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
To restore order, Parker cast a spell that erased his existence from everyone’s memory, including his closest friends MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon). With the storyline set for expansion, Deadline suggests that several new characters, possibly including Sink’s, will be introduced in the upcoming film.
Currently, Tom Holland is filming The Odyssey with director Christopher Nolan and is expected to begin work on Spider-Man 4 once production wraps.
Sink’s reported casting comes on the heels of her finishing the final season of Stranger Things, Netflix’s horror phenomenon that propelled her and co-stars Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, and Finn Wolfhard to global fame.
Beyond the screen, Sink is making waves in the theater world. She stars in the musical O'Dessa, which recently premiered at SXSW, and is set to appear on Broadway in John Proctor is the Villain, running in New York until June.
With her growing list of high-profile projects, Sink’s rumored involvement in Spider-Man 4 only adds to the excitement surrounding the film’s next chapter.
