Ryan Reynolds made a crucial demand before agreeing to don the Deadpool suit once more: Shawn Levy had to direct it. Having previously collaborated on projects like Free Guy and The Adam Project, Reynolds believed Levy was the perfect fit for the role.

During an interview for the upcoming issue of SFX magazine, hitting newsstands on July 10, Levy recounted the moment. "While filming The Adam Project with Ryan in Vancouver, he told me, 'I'll only do Deadpool again if you direct it.' I was thrilled because directing a film of that scale has always been a dream of mine."

Levy, a long-time fan of Marvel, especially of characters like Deadpool and Wolverine, saw this as an incredible opportunity. "Joining the Deadpool franchise and bringing something unique to it was very appealing," he shared.

The film, Deadpool and Wolverine, will introduce Reynolds' irreverent superhero to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Early trailers and footage suggest an exciting, R-rated adventure.

While Marvel remains tight-lipped about the specifics, the basic plot is intriguing. Set years after Deadpool 2, Wade Wilson is living a quiet life before being recruited by the Time Variance Authority for a new mission. He meets Matthew Macfadyen's Paradox, who pairs him with Wolverine to save the MCU.
