Prince Harry is still willing to fix his ongoing rift with the family royal, and sources close to the couple claim there is one big condition. Relations between Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, haven't been the best over the past few years, while more recently, he aired some public grievances against his father, King Charles. Hopes of reconciliation are not completely lost, however, following the king's diagnosis with cancer.

This has, however, been blurred by unsettled issues concerning Harry's security during his UK visits. When he renounced royal duties, he lost the right to police protection. He is still in court fighting for the return of this security, but so far, he is unsuccessful; he now looks forward to his father's assistance in this regard.

Sources say that Harry's attempts to discuss the issue with King Charles have been met with silence over security concerns. Many feel trust has been broken by the public disclosures from Harry, while supporters say it could all reduce the need for public funding if he were adequately protected by security.

One close friend said that dealing with the security problem would be a precondition of a truce: "It's swords down." A source close to Harry has also told the Sunday Telegraph that he is desperate to rebuild his relationship with his father but has made his demand for security not about pampering but safety.

The legal rows relate to the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, made in 2020, to remove Harry's security status. A retired High Court judge declared the decision fair, which was reached as Harry was no longer a "full-time working member of the royal family."

Harry has said his children cannot feel safe in the UK without adequate security. He claims that fears for their safety were part of the reason he and Meghan decided to step back from royal duties in 2020 and move to the United States.

After all that, he does still have high hopes for a resolution that will let his family connect safely with their heritage in the UK.
