Penny Lancaster spent time with her husband, Sir Rod Stewart, in an emotional family reunion this week amid his ongoing health issues. The 79-year-old rock legend has been compelled to call off or postpone a spate of performances for the past few weeks after he was diagnosed with both COVID-19 and strep throat. He was looking pretty merry in the snaps from the family get-together.

The momentous occasion was shared to social media by Stewart's daughter-in-law, Nicola Artukovich Stewart, and shows the singer flanked by his children and their spouses. Joining them in the picture was Penny Lancaster, beaming in her stunning red gown, along with their two sons, Alastair and Aiden Patrick. Recalling that special moment, Penny shared a re-post of the image with a caption saying, "Happy memories."

While Stewart expressed his deep disappointment at having to cancel a Las Vegas show and postpone others in California and Nevada, he is scheduled to return to the stage tomorrow, little more than a week since his recovery. However medical experts have warned that this swift comeback could cause long-term damage to his voice. Dr. Chun Tang, GP and Medical Director at Pall Mall Medical, said that strep throat might be the culprits for significant interference with a singer's voice by articulating the vocal cords, cartilage of the larynx, throat lining, leading to swelling and pain in a throat, that could manifest in hoarseness, reduced voice range, or complete loss of it.

He added that rest was crucial and recovery from this should not be hastened, even if the symptoms started improving. In such neglect, the damage can become chronic and threaten Stewart's ability to sing. While there are these apprehensions, it seems Penny Lancaster is still very much behind Stewart as he gets ready to face the stage again, proving the family's bonding at its best in these troubled times.
