KSI and the Sidemen Amongst the Richest of UK Gamers

YouTube superstars KSI and the Sidemen have cemented their selves into the UK's richest people in gaming, amongst the industry giants behind such global phenomena as Candy Crush, Minecraft, and Grand Theft Auto. The Sunday Times Gaming Rich List officially places the stars at 21st, with a combined fortune of an impressive £50 million—not bad at all and higher than many real-life gamers.

Leading the list are Russian-born siblings Igor and Dmitry Bukhman, who together co-own Playrix, a mobile game studio responsible for such games as Township and Fishdom; their combined fortune reaches an enormous sum of £12.54 billion. A quarter of those listed are under 35, with the average age at 45, and there are only three women on the list.

KSI - Olajide Olatunji - is the other of the seven-strong Sidemen, who make online videos about challenges, skits and acting out commentaries to video games. Then there is PewDiePie, also known as the Swedish vlogger Felix Kjellberg, who is based in Japan and ranks 25th. He has a fortune of £45m and a range of firms operating in the UK.

But even the most successful of them all—the game creators—still find a place on this list. In fourth place in the top 10 are Dan and Sam Houser, the brains behind the Grand Theft Auto series for Rockstar Games, who hold a combined £350m. The creators of Candy Crush—Riccardo Zacconi, Mel Morris, and Sebastian Knutsson—complete the top 10 with the game being downloaded more than three billion times in the last 12 years.

Debbie Bestwick, the former boss of Team17, home to the much-loved Worms series, is 13th with £130m. Meanwhile, completing the top 10 is Wendy Irvin-Braben, who founded Frontier Developments with her husband, David. The couple's wealth is put at £175m.

At 28 is Tamsin O'Luanaigh, co-founder of virtual reality company nGames, with a net worth of £26m, most of which she shares with Patrick, her husband. To put the compilation together, Robert Watts said that It is a storyline that will have many others daydreaming about making a fortune from video games and is the compiling of the Sunday Times Gaming Rich List.
