Kane questioned the seriousness of the players in the national team, as the commitment to represent England seems to have diminished during this international break.

Then, of course, there is the view that maybe the delay in allowing permanent manager Thomas Tuchel to take over helped create this situation. Premier League clubs seem aghast at the decision by the FA in delaying Tuchel's start date, which has seen the door open to withdrawals.

Despite the shocks, England has to continue with the quest for success in the Nations League. The remaining players for England must do what the missing ones could not do and hope that they emerge stronger for the coming matches against Greece and Ireland to boost their chances of promotion into League A.
