Eminem’s latest release, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), has claimed the Number One spot on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, ending Taylor Swift’s 12-week streak at the top with The Tortured Poets Department. This marks Eminem's 11th album to achieve this milestone, reflecting his enduring popularity and influence in the music industry.

The new album debuted with 281,000 units sold, including 220 million streams and 114,000 digital downloads, according to Luminate. Despite mixed reviews from critics, the album has clearly resonated with fans.

This success continues Eminem’s remarkable career, which has seen him dominate the charts for nearly three decades. The only exception since his 2022 greatest hits album, Curtain Call 2, was The Slim Shady LP in 1999, which was the last of his albums to debut outside the top spot.

In addition to Eminem’s triumph, K-Pop group Enhypen’s Romance: Untold debuted at Number 2, while Zach Bryan’s Great American Bar Scene fell to Number 3. Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department is now at Number 4, marking its first drop from the top position since its release.

Beating Swift’s album, which has been the best-seller of the year with 4.66 million units sold in the first half of 2024, is a significant achievement. The Tortured Poets Department has dominated physical sales, surpassing all other top-ten physical releases combined.

Swift, acknowledging her album's record-breaking run, expressed her gratitude to her fans on social media. She noted how their support led to a historic 12-week Number One stint, a personal milestone she had never reached before.

In 2024, The Death of Slim Shady becomes the fifth album to top the Billboard chart, following American Dream by 21 Savage, Vultures 1 by Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign, and We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You by Future and Metro Boomin.
