Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, is doing well after her birth in Nanuet, New York. The couple welcomed their second child on June 4th, 2021.
Lilibet is the couple’s second child, following their son Archie, who was born in 2019. She is the eighth grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and the first great-grandchild of Prince Philip.
The couple shared the news of Lilibet’s birth on their Archewell website, saying, “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
The couple also shared a black and white photo of the newborn, taken by Meghan. The photo shows the couple cradling their daughter, with a smiling Prince Harry gazing down at her.
Lilibet’s name is a tribute to her great-grandfather, Prince Philip, whose family nickname was “Lilibet.” It is also a nod to her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, whose family nickname is “Lilibet.”
The couple is said to be overjoyed with their new addition. They have been spending time bonding with their daughter and getting to know her.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been living in the United States since March 2020, when they stepped down from their roles as senior members of the British royal family. They are currently living in a home in Santa Barbara, California.
It is not yet known when the couple will return to the United Kingdom, but it is likely that Lilibet will make her first public appearance in the United Kingdom at some point in the future.
In the meantime, the couple is enjoying their time with their daughter and getting to know her. All signs point to Lilibet being a healthy and happy baby, and the couple is thrilled to have her in their lives.
