Marvel Issued Lawsuits To Hold Copyright Of Heroes Including Spider-Man, Iron Man and More

The copyrights to some of Marvel’s biggest characters – including Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Black Widow – are the subject of a new lawsuit filed by Marvel Entertainment.

Disney has found caught up in another legal battle following Scarlett Johansson’s breach of contract claim, with Marvel recently filing a series of lawsuits in response to copyright-termination notices.

The lawsuits filed by Disney and Marvel Entertainment in reply argue that the characters in question were created as “work made for hire, to which the Copyright Act’s termination provisions do not apply” (via EW).
